Pjila’si! Welcome to Science & Innovation at the Ulnooweg Education Centre.

Our mandate is to provide fun and engaging educational programs and activities in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) for Indigenous youth in Atlantic Canada.  Our programs have a community-first mindset and are then created and developed by our dedicated Educational Team. We work with esteemed partners such as to support the growth and development of these programs.

We engage youth in STEAM through interactive and hands-on learning that provides a depth of skill and knowledge that works best in their learning environments. These programs are created for a variety of delivery models through in-class programs, camps, clubs, and community centres. We take pride in providing additional educational experiences to inspire Indigenous youth to pursue STEM through special events, inspirational guest speakers, and experiential field trips.

Science & Innovation Programs

STEAM Workshops

From 3D modelling to GroBots that can grow plants in space, our workshops blend STEAM with Indigenous knowledge to provide unique learning experiences that spark curiosity and build skills in STEAM fields.

Summer Programs

We offer unique camps that blend Indigenous ways of knowing and STEAM education. These camps provide Indigenous youth in Atlantic Canada with immersive experiences alongside Elders, Knowledge Keepers, scientists, and industry professionals. Camps are free, with all accommodations, meals, and travel covered.

Makerspaces

We’re building youth-oriented spaces with tools for ongoing learning and student-led community initiatives.

Indigenous FabLab in Fredericton

The Indigenous FabLab is a unique training program for youth 15-30 to develop foundational skills in digital technology and fabrication. This project is in collaboration with JEDI (Joint Economic Development Centre) and First Peoples Innovation Centre (FPIC).

Project Makerspace NB
