Prepare for an inspiring and immersive experience tailored for Indigenous youth in grades 10-12 to explore post-secondary life. At Pathways to Post-Secondary Camp, you’ll stay in residence at Dalhousie University, engage in hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) activities, and visit universities and colleges. Through interactive workshops, city explorations, and meaningful connections with Elders and Indigenous student support networks, you’ll build confidence in navigating your future academic journey.

Guided by Etuaptmumk
Pathways to Post-Secondary Camp is guided by the principles of Etuaptmumk (“Two-Eyed Seeing”), weaving together Indigenous knowledge and academic education.
Learning alongside Elders, Indigenous knowledge holders, and industry experts, participants gain a deeper understanding of their world while ensuring cultural perspectives remain at the heart of their journey.
What to Expect at Pathways to Post-Secondary Camp 2025
July 2-11, 2025 | Kjipuktuk (Halifax, NS)
This year’s camp theme is SPACE! Embark on a journey that blends cultural knowledge with modern science as we explore the universe together.
- Navigating Kjipuktuk – Discover the best ways to explore Halifax – on foot, transit or even by segway – while finding welcoming community spaces along the way.
- Connect with Indigenous Support Networks – Meet Elders and connect with Indigenous student services and local Indigenous organizations like the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre.
- Star Gazing on Mniku’j – Explore the archeological sites of Mniku’j (McNabs Island) and experience the night sky through Mi’kmaw sky stories.
- Hands-on STEAM Fun – Build rockets, experiment with airlock systems, and use an 8-metre-wide telescope.
- Exploring Space Careers – Meet professionals across the space industry, from engineers, to entrepreneurs, to astronauts!

How much does it cost?
All expenses during the program—including travel, meals, and accommodations—are covered. Depending on resources available, we may be able to support costs associated with getting youth to and from pick-up locations.
Who can apply?
This program is open to Indigenous youth aged 15-18 who are living in Atlantic Canada, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and PEI.
In our registration form you will be asked to identify which community you are from (your home community can be based outside of Atlantic Canada, but you must be living in Atlantic Canada).
Can I get support with travel?
Our goal is to make this opportunity available to Indigenous youth across Atlantic Canada. Depending on resources available, we may be able to support costs associated with getting youth to and from pick-up locations.
